USE BEFORE:
MOST PARENTS ARRIVE AT HOME SCHOOLING BECAUSE SOMETHING ABOUT THE SCHOOL SYSTEM ISN'T WORKING.Â
Â
But once they decide to explore this new lifestyle, they quickly run into a different problem: information overload.
Â
Every state in Australia has a different registration process, and different curriculum & syllabus expectations. Educational departments even vary down to different attitudes about childhood development, wellbeing, and academic standards.Â
When parents start searching for answers, they fall into a maze of websites, paperwork, and online advice. One person says registration is simple. Another warns that it is strict and difficult, and to avoid it altogether.
Curriculum options multiply into the hundreds. The concept of writing a learning plan from scratch is overwhelming. Researching methods of homeschooling is daunting... and you still don't know how your days are going to look.Â
People around you criticise your decision to leave the school system, question your competency, challenge you with nonsense about socialisation, and ruthlessly spew their incorrect beliefs, assumptions and opinions on you.Â
Instead of clarity, parents are left trying to piece together an entirely new kind of life, with no clue about what is required or where to start. At the same time, they are still parenting, managing a household, and often caring for younger children.
The responsibility of designing an education suddenly sits entirely on their shoulders, and every decision feels difficult and confusing. Which curriculum to choose? How detailed will the learning plan need to be? Will the registration application will be good enough?Â
Hours disappear as they scroll through government pages and Facebook group posts, chasing answers and comments that never seem to fully resolve the uncertainty. The result is hesitation, doubt, and distress.
Parents who know home schooling is the right or necessary path find themselves stuck in the confusion, overwhelmed by conflicting information, and delaying the very step that could give their family the freedom and lifestyle they are looking for.
You May Have Already Discovered That Most Registration Information Is:
Â
- ScatteredÂ
- Overwritten
- Opinionated
- Incorrect
- Designed to Cover Every Possible Scenario
Â
Â
This Checklist is Designed to be USED, Not Studied.
IT GIVES YOU:
- Only what applies
- Only when it applies
- In the order you need it
This is Where Your Journey Begins
The State-by-State Registration Briefing is a practical checklist that breaks down homeschool registration requirements for every Australian state and territory, in the same clear format.Â
You do not need to interpret legislation- although the correct links are available in the right place- if you want them. You do not need to rely on Facebook advice, and you do not need to guess.Â
This briefing is for parents who:
- Are planning or starting home schooling in Australia
- Want to register correctly the first time
- Need help adjusting their registration to a new state
- Want to retain their autonomy and family values
- Want to meet legal requirements without inviting the government to parent and educate their children, or structure their life
- Prefer quick reference checklists to long explanationsÂ
If you want the facts, the steps, and a clear path forward, this is for you.
Â
This is not for people:
- Looking for curriculum recommendations
- Wanting done-for-you paperwork or registration templates
- Seeking emotional reassurance instead of action
This Is The Clarity
You've Been Looking For
This Briefing Shows You:
Â
- Where to apply in your state
- Who is eligible to register
- What steps to complete, in order
- What documents are required
- When your child must stay enrolled in school, and when they are able to leave
- What home visits or review meetings involve
- When registration is complete
The System Wasn't Designed For You
Â
Home school registrations- like most government processes- are unclear, poorly organised, and cluttered with complicated wording.
They are written for lawyers, legislators, governing bodies and politicians. Content is dense and scattered. Critical information is hidden in various places. Requirements are vague, and the process takes way too long.
Worst of all, going through the application process leaves most families doubting whether their decision to home school was even worth it in the first place.
RETHINK YOUR FUTURE
Â
INSTEAD OF CONFUSION, HOW WOULD IT FEEL TO:
- Have the freedom to focus on your new life: Spending quality time with your children- instead of preparing registration documents for months?
- Have a collection of repeatable checklists for every Australian state so you can register quickly even if you relocate often?
- Drastically increase your confidence and clarity while decreasing the amount of time you spend overwhelmed and confused?
- Spend less time planning and more time exploring, learning and growing?
- Have a consistent and predictable flow to your year- from getting registered for the first time to preparing for your registration renewal.Â
- Achieve a meaningful lifestyle that keeps your family first and your autonomy intact, so you can grow, learn, explore and have success together at home?
ALL OF THIS IS 100% POSSIBLE FOR YOU.
I’ve done it, over and over again, and you can do it too.

It will give you a proven process to follow, so you can walk into your new home school life with confidence, joy and clarity. That’s why I created the Registration Briefing.Â
BEFORE USING THIS CHECKLIST, MANY PARENTS HAVE TRIED FACEBOOK GROUP CHATS, RESEARCHING EDUCATION DEPARTMENT WEBSITES, FOLLOWING ADVICE FROM THE COMMENTS SECTION, OR JUST OVERLOADING THEMSELVES WITH THE EXPECTATIONS AND OPINIONS OF EVERYONE ELSE.
BUT WHEN YOU HAVE A CHECKLIST, YOU CAN REGISTER QUICKLY, WITHOUT SACRIFICING YOUR OWN VALUES.
I’LL BE STRAIGHT WITH YOU: THE PROCESS STILL TAKES SOME WORK. BUT ONCE YOU HAVE A MINIMUM VIABLE REGISTRATION AND YOU’RE MOVING ON AND LIVING YOUR LIFE, YOU CAN CHANGE, IMPROVE OR UPDATE YOUR PLANS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS MUCH AS YOU NEED.
IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A PAINFUL EXPERIENCE.
YOU CAN HAVE AN ACCURATE, ACTIONABLE HOMESCHOOL PLAN, AND COMPLETED APPLICATIONS, WITHOUT FEELING OVERLOADED AND CONFUSED.
What Makes The
Registration Briefing Different?
There are plenty of online comments and education department web pages out there with available information.
The Registration Briefing is different. Here’s why, it:
- Explains who is required by state law to provide a learning plan aligned with the Australian Curriculum or the relevant state syllabus, and who has the freedom not to, on one page.
- Provides exact links for each step so you can take action immediately, instead of sifting through government websites.Â
- Explains who can be partially enrolled in home-school and a state or private school at the same time, and who can’t.
- Outlines each document required in the application.
- Includes links to relevant legal guides, handbooks, curriculum or syllabus information, etc. All optional reading is organised for quick reference in each state's section.
- Explains who needs to be enrolled in a school before or during the home school application process, and who doesn’t.Â
- Gives you the overview of the entire application process for each state, from start to finish.Â
- Provides next steps and optional extra support. Â
Â

Common Questions
Do I need this if I can find information online?
Does this replace legal advice?
Is this state-specific?
Will this tell me what curriculum to use?
Can you remind me what the guarantee was?
Is this suitable if I’m still deciding?
I don’t know anything about homeschooling yet, is this still a good fit?
Â
You don’t have to have all your ducks in a row before you move forward. Clarity will come from action. You'll get there just by getting your mind into the process and going through it. To begin homeschooling, you can take one of two paths:
Path One
Â
Keep your children in school and start adjusting some things before and after school, and on the weekends. Build your confidence and help your child get used to a different dynamic; where learning is done at home, with a parent, and with resources that don’t resemble classrooms, workbooks, textbooks and white boards.Â
Â
As you see the benefits, and overcome the friction of these changes, you can prepare yourself for the big move into full-time home schooling, and prepare your mindset for the application process and requirements.
Path Two
Â
Remove your children from school as fast as possible to protect them from the situations, experiences, troubles, pressures or emotions that are causing either you or them hurt. Leave all the expectations, opinions, dreams and intentions behind you.
Love your children, focus on their hearts, relax at home.
Then, when the storm has passed, pick up your checklist and your pen, and start with step one.Â
EDUCATION IS FREEDOM.
For generations, families shaped their lives around what mattered most—their children, their values, and their time together. Education was personal, woven into daily life, not confined to one path or place. That freedom still exists. And for families willing to step out of the classroom, it offers the gift of a life full of blessings, and a vision wholly realised.
